Pikesville High School Library Mission Statement

 

In support of Pikesville High School’s (PHS) commitment to academic excellence, the mission of the PHS Library Media Program is to create a learning and information commons that serves as the catalyst for student achievement and lifelong learning. The PHS Library Media Program nurtures and fosters students’ love of reading, learning, and promotes the effective and ethical use of information and 21st century technologies by providing opportunities for learners to investigate their own interest as well as conduct academic research.

 

Pikesville High School Library Vision Statement

 

The Pikesville High School Library Media Program aspires to help each student excel and achieve their maximum potential. By providing a 21st Century learning environment and embedding 21st Century skills into curricular instruction across disciplines, the library media program adds a dimension of rigor to the PHS curriculum and encourages students to become participatory learners. Through collaboration, the Pikesville High School Library staff partners with the PHS learning community to maintain a current physical and virtual collection of resources that supports and enriches curriculum subjects and personal interests to empowers students to become critical thinkers, problems solvers, and responsible citizens.
